Ted Rosenthal is one of the leading jazz pianist/composers of his generation. The New Yorker magazine describes him as “a musician’s musician who balances technique and taste.” The Los Angeles Times calls him “a pianist of rarest skill.” Rosenthal actively tours worldwide with his trio and as a soloist. He also has performed with many jazz greats, including Gerry Mulligan, Art Farmer, Phil Woods, Bob Brookmeyer, and James Moody.
Winner of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition, Rosenthal has released nineteen CDs as a leader, including a series of 4 new CDs in 2025, featuring his distinctive arrangements of the Great American Songbook, reimaginings of classical themes and original compositions. Micky Golomb, a legendary local jazz player, and enthusiast, and mentor to many younger players passed away Saturday night, March 2, 2019, peacefully at home after a tough fight with cancer.
The concert will be performed by Greg Wall, playing Micky’s Selmer SBA tenor sax, and Chris Coogan on the famous 1937 Steinway Model M, formerly of NYC’s Village Gate Jazz Club. Performing with Chris and Greg are bassist John Mobilio, and drummer Jim Royle.
Some of Micky’s bandmates and collaborators will join in during the second set.
The Micky Golomb Memorial Fund has been established to fund scholarships for local Fairfield County students going on to study Jazz in college or conservatory. The Fund may also fund other local jazz projects in the future.

Rale is CTA Records recording artist and has been featured in numerous publications including Downbeat, JazzTimes, LA Times, San Diego Tribune, Boston Globe, etc. He has performed at prominent jazz clubs and music festivals in US and Europe including Catalina Jazz Club, Blues Alley, Village Vanguard, Scullers Jazz Club, Dizzy’s, San Jose Jazz Festival, Hartford International Jazz Festival, etc.
