SUMMARY:Janice Friedman
DESCRIPTION:Pianist Janice Friedman has joined musical forces with some of the biggest names in Jazz including Joe Lovano\, Lew Tabakin\, and Billy Higgins. The famous pianist\, Marian McPartland\, not only had her on “Piano Jazz\,” but also had her join her on tour around the country. Janice has recorded with such varied musicians as Milt Hinton\, Warren Vache’ and Claudio Roditi. She is one of the few women to ever tour extensively with The Woody Herman Orchestra. \nHaving played in the most famous of concert halls and notable clubs from Carnegie Hall and the JFK Arts Center to the Blue Note\, Birdland\, Kitano\, Smoke\, Dizzy’s Jazz Club\, Sweet Rhythm and Iridium in NYC\, you can safely say she has wowed audiences from coast to coast and on practically every continent on the globe. \nJanice Friedman - piano \nDave Kingsnorth - bass \nMike Campenni- drums \nGreg Wall - saxes \n  \nPurchase Tickets

SUMMARY:Marc Copland
DESCRIPTION:Recognized as an innovator with a unique grasp of harmony and color\, Marc is perhaps the foremost proponent of the lyrical school of jazz pianism today. \nMarc’s nickname “the Piano Whisperer” was earned by his rich harmonic technique and crystalline sound. \nAs a sideman he played with John Abercrombie\, Gary Peacock\, Bob Belden\, Joe Lovano\, Greg Osby\, Tim Hagans\, James Moody\, Wallace Roney and many others. \nHis own groups include all-star cast like Joey Baron\, Drew Gress\, Gary Peacock\, Randy Brecker\, Dave Liebman & Ralph Alessi. \n“Copland continues to be an exemplar of the lyrical school of jazz pianism. His music\, often noted for its innovative harmonic language\, nevertheless is widely regarded as easily accessible to the listener. \nMany reviewers credit this blend to the pianist’s use of dynamics and touch\, and his distinctive pedal work. […] \nHis thirty-five releases make him perhaps the most prolific jazz pianist of the new millennium. \nMarc Copland\, piano\nYuriy Galkin\, bass\nSteve Johns\, drums\nGreg Wall\, tenor and soprano saxes\n\n  \nPurchase Tickets

DESCRIPTION:Co-sponsored by  89.5 WPKN\n \n  \nPrepare for an unforgettable night of high-octane jazz as Andy Farber and Greg Wall step into the legendary lineage of the music's greatest two-tenor battles. Following the fiery footsteps of historic saxophone duos like Johnny Griffin and Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis\, Al Cohn and Zoot Sims\, and Dexter Gordon and Wardell Gray\, these two powerhouse horn players will be pushing each other to creative heights\, honoring a classic jazz tradition where the only true winner is the audience. \n  \nAndy Farber - Tenor Saxophone \nGreg Wall - Tenor Saxophone \nBob Albanese - Piano \nJennifer Vincent - Bass \nTony Jefferson - drums \n  \nAndy Farber is an award winning Jazz composer\, arranger and saxophonist and has spent years performing with the likes of Jon Hendricks and Wynton Marsalis. Greg honed his craft playing in countless bands\, touring with a wide range of avant-garde and traditional projects\, and performing at venues including Carnegie Hall\, the Village Vanguard\, the Blue Note\, the Bottom Line\, Symphony Space\, Roulette\, and the King Cole Room at the St. Regis.
