DESCRIPTION:Michael Rabinowitz - bassoon \nSteve Sandberg - piano \nMichael O’Brien - bass \nDavid Alvarez - drums \nGreg Wall - soprano saxophone \n  \nFor over thirty years Michael Rabinowitz has been on the cutting edge as a versatile bassoonist. as comfortable with Bach and Mozart as he is with Charlie Parker\, John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman. \nHe has recorded with Ira Sullivan\, Red Rodney\, Wynton Marsalis\, John Hicks\, Dave Douglas\, Chris Potter and Joe Lovano. \nMike’s  festival appearances include Chicago\, Montreal\, Berlin\, Tanglewood\, Newport\, San Francisco and Hollywood Bowl. Michael is a regular member of The Charles Mingus Orchestra in NYC and can be heard regularly at the Jazz Standard with this ensemble. \nHis own quartet Bassoon and the Wild has performed at the Chatauqua Institute\, Vanderbilt Planetarium\, Frick Museum\, JVC Jazz Festival\, Penn State\, Kavehaz and other venues in NYC. \nHis  latest recording\, “Next Chapter” is available now on Blue Ridge Records. \nMichael has been awarded a grant from Chamber Music of America in collaboration with French oboist Jean Luc Fillon and released their CD “On the Reed Again”. \nOver the years Mike provides inspiration to bassoonists and musicians the world over as a pioneer in improvisation on the bassoon. Michael is a Buffet Group artist who plays exclusively on W. Schreiber bassoons.

DESCRIPTION:David Berkman - piano\, compositions \nBilly Drews - alto sax\, clarinet \nGreg Wall -  tenor and soprano saxes \nDavid Ambrosio - bass \nJay Sawyer - drums \n  \n  \nDavid Berkman has been an essential part of the New York jazz scene for over 30 years\, as a creative and swinging voice on the piano and as a gifted composer\, arranger and bandleader.  Originally from Cleveland\, Ohio\, he currently divides his time between teaching in N.Y. and performing with world renowned jazz artists at home and abroad. Berkman has performed with numerous jazz luminaries including: Sonny Stitt\, Tom Harrell\, Brian Blade\, the Vanguard Orchestra\, Cecil McBee\, Dave Douglas and Chris Potter. His 10 recordings as a leader have appeared on numerous “Critic’s Best” lists. Berkman is a tenured professor at the Aaron Copland School of Music\, C.U.N.Y. in New York and has published three books on jazz with Sher Music Publishing which are used in jazz schools worldwide.

DESCRIPTION:Michael Mossman - trumpet \nZaccai Curtis - pian0 \nGreg Wall - tenor saxophone \nRicky Rodriguez - bass \nDavid Alvarez - drums \nMichael Philip Mossman has been active on the international scene since the age of 17\, and has recorded with his own groups and with a virtual “who’s who” of the music industry. Michael was nominated for a 2013 Grammy Award for “Best Instrumental Arrangement” for his “Afro-Latin Ellington Suite.” \nFollowing stints as lead trumpet with the Machito Orchestra\, Toshiko Akiyoshi\, and with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra\, Michael became the musical director of Blue Note Record’s “young lion” group\, Out of the Blue. He recorded four albums for Blue Note with this group before joining the Horace Silver Quintet. Michael has toured and recorded with Dizzy Gillespie\, Art Blakey\, Joe Henderson\, McCoy Tyner\, Gerry Mulligan\, Joe Zawinul\, Slide Hampton\, Toshiko Akiyoshi and countless others. \n  \nZaccai Curtis is an acclaimed recording artist and producer\, recently honored with the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album. He leads his own groups\, the Zaccai Curtis Quintet and Sonido Solar\, and after five successful releases\, is set to release his new album Sonoluminescence in 2026. \nTogether with his brother Luques\, Zaccai co-founded the record label TRRcollective\, a collaborative space for musicians to produce and release their own music. He is also proud to have produced the Grammy-nominated album Entre Colegas by Andy González (2016). \nA native of Connecticut\, Zaccai moved to New York City in 2005\, where he has performed with renowned artists including Christian Scott\, Donald Harrison\, Cindy Blackman Santana\, Eddie Palmieri\, Lakecia Benjamin\, Brian Lynch\, the Mambo Legends\, Avery Sharpe and many others.

DESCRIPTION:Atla DeChamplain is a jazz vocalist\, lyricist\, and educator known for her compelling sound and sincere interpretations of jazz standards. A Connecticut native\, she studied at the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at the Hartt School of Music and earned her Master’s degree from the University of Toledo\, where she was mentored by the legendary vocalist Jon Hendricks. Specializing in vocalese—the art of setting lyrics to instrumental jazz solos—Atla is recognized for her original lyrics\, expressive phrasing\, vocal control\, and authenticity on stage. \nHer musical voice is a blend of American idioms\, drawing from jazz\, blues\, gospel\, and R&B. She credits her artistic development to the influence of Ella Fitzgerald\, Sarah Vaughan\, Jon Hendricks\, Louis Armstrong\, Kurt Elling\, Dianne Reeves\, Mel Tormé\, Bobby McFerrin\, José Feliciano\, and Nat King Cole\, as well as the lyrical legacies of Iola Brubeck\, Billy Strayhorn\, Burt Bacharach\, and Fred Rogers. Atla has performed with many of her musical heroes\, including Jon Hendricks\, Kurt Elling\, Lawrence Hobgood\, José Feliciano\, Paul Keller\, and Steve Davis. Atla acknowledges the privilege to follow such luminary artists in the traditions of Black American music.
