SUMMARY:Paul Bollenback\, Sylvia Cuenca\, and Essiet Essiet
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning jazz guitarist Paul Bollenback developed a taste for the exotic over the course of a three-year period when his family lived in India. He was 11 years old when the family traveled to New Delhi\, and years later the sounds and experiences of that early journey found their way into his first album from Challenge Records\, Original Visions. His next release\, Double Gemini\, continued to stir up a buzz among critics\, and it drew honors as CD of the Month from both WBGO\, a Newark jazz station\, and 20th Century Jazz Magazine. Bollenback remained with Challenge for his next project\, Soul Grooves. \nIn 2011 Paul garnered a Grammy nomination for co-production on Joey DeFrancesco’s Never Can Say Goodbye (Hi Note). His international and national touring schedule currently include appearances with Joey DeFrancesco\, Mike LeDonne\, Jeff "Tain" Watts\, Gary Bartz\, and Shunzo Ohno\, as well as many appearances with his own trio. \nSylvia Cuenca is an active drummer on the New York jazz scene who is contributing outstanding performances in a variety of situations. She has had the honor of sharing the bandstand with saxophone legend Joe Henderson for 4 years and trumpet legend Clark Terry for 17 years. The Joe Henderson quartet toured frequently in European countries Norway\, Denmark\, Sweden\, Austria\, Belgium\, England\, Switzerland\, France\, Italy and Germany and venues across the U.S. In a trio setting she performed with Joe Henderson and Charlie Haden in 1989 and with George Mraz in 1994. She performed with the Clark Terry Quintet and Big Band at Village Vanguard\, Birdland\, Blue Note\, Queen Elizabeth 2\, Royal Viking\, S.S. Norway jazz cruises and clubs\, concerts and festivals in the U.S\, Europe\, the Caribbean and South America. While working with the Clark Terry quintet she had the opportunity to perform with guest artists Al Grey\, Red Holloway\, Jimmy Heath\, Frank Wess\, Marian McPartland\, Dianne Reeves\, Joe Williams and Lou Donaldson to name a few. \n  \nConsidered one of the top bassists in jazz today\, Essiet Essiet first received critical acclaim over a decade ago in Bobby Watson's group Horizon. Born in Nebraska to Nigerian parents\, he began studying violin at age10 and switched to bass viol at 14. As a child\, he traveled widely with his family and that early exposure to many cultures\, folk- ways\, languages\, and religions fostered his world view of strength through diversity. \nSome musicians are purists\, says Essiet\, but I like to mix styles. Essiet was Art Blakey's last bassist\, playing with him for 2 years and on 3 CDs. He's also performed with Freddie Hubbard\, Cedar Walton\, Benny Golson\, and the Blue Note All-Stars\, to name a few. Essiet also leads IBO\, a Nigerian jazz project.

SUMMARY:Michael Mossman featuring Paul Bollenback
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \nMichael Philip Mossman has been active on the international scene since the age of 17 and has since recorded with his own groups and with a virtual "who's who" of the music industry. \nFollowing stints as lead trumpet with the Machito Orchestra\, Toshiko Akiyoshi\, and with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra. \nMichael became the musical director of Blue Note Record's "young lion" group\, Out of the Blue before joining the Horace Silver Quintet. Michael has toured and recorded with Dizzy Gillespie\, Art Blakey\, Joe Henderson\, McCoy Tyner\, The Carnegie Hall Jazz Orchestra\, the Charles Mingus Orchestra\, Benny Carter\, the Gil Evans Orchestra\, and the Count Basie Orchestra. \n  \n \nAward-winning jazz guitarist Paul Bollenback developed a taste for the exotic over the course of a three-year period when his family lived in India.

He can be heard on twenty albums as a leader\, fifteen as a co-leader\, and over four hundred albums as a sideman. \nThere's no description more apt for  guitarist Sheryl Bailey than "A sizzling guitar goddess"\, coined by Elliot Simon of All About Jazz. He's not alone with his superlatives-Adam Levy of Guitar Player Magazine calls Sheryl "One of the most compelling tones of her generation"\, and Frank Forte of Just Jazz Guitar ranks her "among the best bop guitar players with a fresh approach and something new." \nSheryl's playing is unquestionably "sizzling". She has groomed incredible chops and impeccable taste with which she applies them. It's said (by Lee Metcalf\, The Villager) that she can "go from zero to blazing in two beats"\, but she is continually praised for never sacrificing melody and lyricism for technique. "She balances superior technical skills with a strong lyrical sense and swinging touch..." continues Metcalf\, and Joe Taylor of Soundstage says "Bailey combines an astonishing command of the fingerboard with a seemingly endless flow of melodic invention." \nA partial list of others with whom she has performed and recorded with includes Richard Bona\, George Garzone\, Lincoln Goines\, Kim Plainfield\, Bill O'Connell\, Mike LeDonne\, Irene Cara\, Lea Delaria\, Jack Wilkins\, Howard Alden\, Shingo Okudaira\, Ingrid Jensen\, Dwayne Burno\, Tommy Campbell\, Simon Woolf\, Alex Garnett and Ken Peplowski.
