Michael was nominated for a 2013 Grammy Award for “Best Instrumental Arrangement” for his “Afro-Latin Ellington Suite.” and received Grammys for his work with the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra and the legendary Joe Henderson. \nFollowing stints as lead trumpet with the Machito Orchestra\, Toshiko Akiyoshi\, and with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra\, Michael became the musical director of Blue Note Record’s “young lion” group\, Out of the Blue. He recorded four albums for Blue Note with this group before joining the Horace Silver Quintet. Michael has toured and recorded with Dizzy Gillespie\, Ray Barretto\, Art Blakey\, Joe Henderson\, McCoy Tyner\, Gerry Mulligan\, Joe Zawinul\, Slide Hampton\, Toshiko Akiyoshi and countless others. \nGrammy Award-winning pianist Luis Perdomo is a powerhouse in the Latin jazz world\, stemming from his early roots in Venezuela to collaborations with icons like Ray Barretto and David Sánchez. As a foundational member of the Miguel Zenón Quartet\, Perdomo has earned multiple accolades\, including a 2024 Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album for El Arte del Bolero Vol. 2. His mastery of the genre is further highlighted by a prestigious 2026 Grammy nomination for Vanguardia Subterránea: Live at The Village Vanguard. \nA master of rhythmic fusion\, six time Grammy Award-winning drummer Vince Cherico is a premier force in the contemporary Latin jazz scene. He forged his reputation during a multi-decade tenure with Ray Barretto & New World Spirit before taking over the drum chair for Arturo O'Farrill & The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra in 2004.
