In 1959, Cannonball Adderley put together a recording session with his fellow Miles Davis Sextet sidemen, including John Coltrane, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb. They would all appear together on Mile’s most famous album, “Kind of Blue", to be recorded six months later. The music on this album is a wonderful mix of great tunes old and new, including a few tasty Coltrane and Adderley originals. These songs will be heard once again at this show at Jazz at the Post, sure to be a most enjoyable night.

Saxophonist and JazzFC Artistic Director Greg Wall (AKA“The Jazz Rabbi”) moved to NYC in 1982, after completing his degree at the famed New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Early studies with Archie Shepp, Frank Foster and George Coleman put him on track to develop an expansive palette of Jazz expression. Greg honed his craft playing in countless bands, touring with a wide range of avant-garde and traditional projects, and at venues from Carnegie Hall, the Village Vanguard, the Blue Note, the Bottom Line, Symphony Space, Roulette and the King Cole Room at the St. Regis, and finally finding his home in the “Downtown Scene”, a group of improvisers based at NYC’s Knitting Factory, that blurred the lines between musical genres and styles. Greg recorded and toured internationally with Hasidic New Wave, Greg Wall’s Later Prophets, Zion 80, Neshama Carlebach, to name just a few, and started a long musical relationship with choreographer Carolyn Dorfman, writing and recording quite a few full length commissioned scores.
He conducted many Jazz workshops and residencies through the NJ State Council for the Arts, as well as in service training for music teachers, and ran a summer Jazz program at Brandeis University for many years.
Greg loves living in Westport and inviting his world class musician friends to join him at the Post on Thursday nights to nourish and sustain this delightful Westport Jazz scene!
