Micky Golomb 1931-2019

Micky Golomb, the legendary local jazz saxophonist, educator, enthusiast, and mentor to many younger players passed away Saturday night, March 2, 2019 peacefully at home after a tough fight with cancer.

The Micky Golomb Memorial Fund was established to fund scholarships for local Fairfield County students going on to study Jazz in college or conservatory. The Fund may also fund other local jazz projects in the future.

The Micky Golomb Memorial Tribute Concert was held on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Pearl at Longshore in Westport. The concert was presented by JazzFC artistic director Greg Wall, playing Micky’s Selmer SBA tenor sax, together with Micky's long time collaborator Chris Coogan on the famous 1937 Steinway Model M, formerly of NYC’s Village Gate Jazz Club. Performing with Chris and Greg were bassist John Mobilio and drummer Jim Royle.

Micky’s surviving bandmates and collaborators joined in during the second set.
