2025 Scholarship Opportunity for Fairfield County Jazz Students!
If you are a high school senior or college freshman living in Fairfield County, enrolled, or enrolling in a music degree program at an institution of higher education, you can apply for the scholarship offered by the Jazz Society of Fairfield County, Inc.
Created to honor the memory of Myron “Micky” Golomb, a well-regarded area saxophonist, educator and habitué of the Jazz Society’s Thursday evening performance presentations, the scholarship is offered to students expressing financial need, dedicated to pursuing a career in jazz performance and/or jazz education. It is open to instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers.
We offer up to $5,000, which may be awarded to a single recipient or split among a few finalists, in the form of tuition paid directly to the educational institution.

Micky Golomb (1931-2019) was a jazz musician and educator, local to Fairfield County. The fund makes an annual scholarship to a financially challenged young musician who is accepted to a college music program. We started the fund with a memorial concert for Micky that raised over $4000. We occasionally designate a Thursday night as an opportunity to contribute to the fund as well. We will be making our first gift this spring.
To garner additional support for the fund we recorded and released a live CD featuring Andy Laverne, Jay Anderson, Jason Tiemann, Alex Sipiagin and Greg Wall. The album was recorded at Pearl in Westport, on February 6, 2020 by Alec Head. A real word class ensemble of musicians!
All proceeds from sales of the CD benefit the scholarship fund in perpetuity.
