Mitch Schechter , pianist and composer, has enjoyed making music with some of the finest musicians of the metropolitan area. For eight years he recorded and performed with mandolin and clarinet virtuoso Andy Statman. The group performed at Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall, WNYC Radio, Symphony Space, and several European venues, including Bosendorfer Concert Hall in Amsterdam. He has been recording and performing his compositions over the years with his group The New American Quartet, the group has just completed their second CD which features legendary Jazz vocalist Andey Bey. As a sideman can be heard on numerous recordings along with Vincent Cutro, Mike Stern, Billy Hart, Jay Anderson, Victor Jones, and Jerry Bergonzie. Under the direction of Mike Treni, Mitch performed with The Composer's Workshop Big Band featuring Jerry Niewood.
